yes and no,
I'm just going to stop worrying about it.
I don't like the system's current underpinnings, but I disliked it strongly in 4th (and 3.5 up to a point).
The fundamental framework is still '40k', but the delivery is skewed against balance and care (again, similar to some dominant play styles then).
Now it's overwhelming numbers (or deathstars), and flyers.
Then it was static (primarily) foot shooting walls and VP denial.
Diversity appears to be increasing for the nonce, but the lists will become overwhelmingly similar as the edition develops (sure, you may use different books/units...but the play will become simply different flavors of the same thing...think MTG during it's competitive typeII heyday. Turbostasis for years, with everything being either a variant of that, or it's counter).
Coupled with the fact that newer books are being built around the concept of allies, as opposed to complimentary for those (forcing you to utilize them, as opposed to merely making them another viable option).
It's becoming RPS based at its best,
just like the height of 4e tourney.
So no, I'm not going to stop playing in tourney,
I'm just going to stop caring about the score...and start caring about what MODELS (& theme) I'm putting down.
(and yes, you still have to return my aircraft
).
