I was reading up on the new Chaos Daemons. I ran across someone making a comment about FAQ on Fiend of Slaanesh. Depending upon the ruling, the author claimed you'd see them all over the table. Does anyone know what I am talking about. Sorry, I can not locate the original article. When I look at Fiend of Slaanesh stat line and cost, I am not impressed. I'd rather spend my points on something else.

The question is about their ability that drops an enemy initiative by 5. Do enemies at initiative zero or less get to attack since the the combat stops at initiative one? Until there is an FAQ, I would say RAW, no, they don't get to attack.

seekers are better. i am going with hounds. fiends are good support unit especially with herald.

I can see an issue with saying Initiative 0 is no attacks.
The question is wether 0 is a number. And the reason why I say that is it is a value that is less than 1 and great than -1.
And because the game has instances that - means no ability what so ever.

So it becomes is 0 a number for counting? 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
And because the Initiative does not effect the # of Attacks in the Attack profile I'd say you still get to attack but just at a lower initiative than we are used to. Essentially Initiative will now either have one of these ranges:
-5 -4 -3 -2 -1 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
or it just takes the initiative down to a minimum of 1 (Most Likely Scenario)
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10

Is the Characteristic hitting 0 still kill a model in this edition? my book is packed away for the move so i don't have it at the moment.

Zero-level Characteristics:
"...0 for certain characteristics, which means that they have no ability whatsoever in that field..."

"If at any point, a model's Strength, Toughness or Wounds are reduced to 0, it is removed from play as a casualty."

BRB p2
"All but one of the Characteristics are rated on a scale from 0 to 10."

Modifiers:
"Certain pieces of wargear or special rules can modify a model's characteristics positively or negatively..."
"No characteristic can be modified below 0."

BRB p22
Initiative Steps:
"Work your way through the Initiative values of the models engaged in the combat, starting with the highest and ending with the lowest. This means that each combat will have ten Initiative steps, starting at Initiative 10 and working down to Initiative 1."

Until there is an FAQ that states a reduction to a min of Init 1, models with Init 0 will not be attacking in the combat. This also means that they do not Pile-in at Init because they do not have a Pile-in Init step. They will only Pile-in at the end of combat.


Perhaps they have succumbed too greatly to the Dark Princes' power.

It does at least pertaining to leadership as the Daemon codex has a piece of gear that reduces your leadership by D6 and specifically states that if leadership is reduced to 0 then the model is killed out right (paraphrased). .

undeclared on the intiative thing silent

Only pertains to that wargear (Doomstone) and is an exception to the above 3 characteristics. Other modifiers like Weaken Resolve do not kill the unit or model.

I'll be on the look out for the FAQ. CAuse damn that is messed up...
I agree 100% RAW that is how it goes, no arguement. but damn man... Guess they have to sell the Finecast models somehow...
