Well my day was up and down. I ended up 2-1-1 but did end up with best painted army so not a total loss! Dan Smilek took 1st, Scott Fink took 2nd, Ian Villamagna took best Sportsman. Here is what showed up to fight.

The armies included:
4 Imperial Guard...Including Eric Miller's, who won for best Painted with his great airbrushed army.
4 Orks including Scott Finke
2 Tyranids
1 Space Marine
1 Deamon...Brian L.
Notice the extreme lack of Power Armor!

The basic rules being this was a comp event.

The tournament was 1250pts with an interesting requirement.
-No codex entry may be taken more than once, except troops.
-You may only take 2 elites, 2 hvys, 2 fast.

Scenarios included some wacky deployment, 21 possible battle points split up into primary, secondary, and tertiary objectives, 4 Comp/sportsmanship points, and 3 painting points each round.

I had to slightly alter my list due to the restrictions, so I ended up with this.

HQ
CCS w/ 3 meltas, OoTF
Chimera
Lord Commissar

Elites
Marbo

Troops
PCS w/4 meltas
Chimera
Infantry squad
Infantry squad
HWS w/3 las cannons
Penal Legion

Fast
Vendette
Valkyrie w/mrp

Heavy
Leman Russ squadron(2) w/ las cannons

First game was against Lostboyz from CAG playing Orks. His list was:

Warboss on a Bike
5 trusty Nobs (troops) on Bikes (one more claw and a painboy, banner, yadayada)
30 shootas on foot
12 sluggas in a truck
19 Grots
2 Killa kans w/ Grotzookas
9 Lootas
2 Coptas (rockets and 1 buzzsaw)

He spread out with his forces with basiclly two free turns of movement until the main part of my army came on. I started using flares right off to enable me to start shooting his big mob and grot unit which were way to close for comfort by this time.

The Valkyrie pounded on his lootas forcing them to break and with the timely arrival of the Penal Legion escorted them off the board. I was able to entice the Nobs into charging the HWS which they destroyed easy enough but were then subjected to 7 meltas and 3 twin linked lascannons, multi lasers and heavy bolters and the unit quickly disintgrated leaving only a wounded warboss.

Melta shots from the PCS also saw off the Coptas, destroying one and the other breaking before being shot up the following turn. At least I started off good but that was soon to change. Victory to Guard 17-0.

More to come.

2nd Game:

I played Brian L from CAG. He was using Daemons. His list was-

Laser Chicken
2x10 letters
1x7 Bearers w/ Icon
1x4 Crushers w/ everything
1x6 Fiends w/ might
Tzeentch Demon Prince w/ bolt and gaze

Objective was the center of the board and table quarters. Kill HQ was tertiary. The board was filled with ruins.

He went first. He got the unprefered half of his army coming in on turn one, consisting of the plaguebearers, one unit of bloodletters and the fiends. The plagues dropped in the center of the board claiming it and hiding in cover the whole game. The bloodletters dropped in the far quarter away from me and hugged the cover of some ruins. The fiends landed in some ruins close to my front lines losing one to terrain.

After two turns of shooting and one chimera later the fiends were dead. Of course the crushers followed right after them continueing to occupy most of my shooting. The valkyrie worked on the bloodletters in the far corner with the help of the penal legion. First unit of letters was down to two models when the other letter unit decided to show up and destroyed the penal legion.

Marbo jump into a tower above the plagues trying to land a demo charge only killing one. He continued to snipe at them but cover saves really suck sometimes. Plagues go to ground 3+ cover, 4+ fnp. pale

This game ended in a tie with everything contested and no HQ killed. Draw to Guard 0-0. Just as bad as a loss in battle point terms. silent

3rd Game

I was matched up against another Guard army for a little nasty guard on guard action. silent I played Brian Smith from KK. His list was standard Mech Guard.

CCS in chimera
melta vets more chimeras
PBS in a chimera
Valkyrie
Vendetta
Manticore
2 Hydras

The board was another mass of ruins. Primary-enemy deployment zones, secondary-wayward markers, tertiary-more surviving heavies and troops. Reverse escalation, .

I went first, deployed with my HWS and commissar in one bird and my CCS in the other, 2 infantry squads in reserve. Brian put everything in reserve. This gave me 2 turns to deploy my HWS and CCS in the ruins centered in my deployment zone. Brians reserves got him (from memory scratch ) valkyrie w/ melta vets, vets in a chimera and his maticore. Biggest thing that happened was the valkyrie outflanked shooting up my chimera, deploying the melta vets which then shot off the battle cannon on 1 of the Russes. This trend continued with the vets tradeing shots with the russes until only one vet remained and no Russes were left on the table. The commissar finally ended it with a bolter shell thru the last guardmans head.

His remaining squads moved on to the table as did mine and we continued to pound on each other. On a side note, (my HWS even with ld 10 from the commissar still failed the first round of orders every game.) Crying or Very sad My penal legion supported by Marbo outflanked but were quickly flamed to death. A disappointing performance over all but it happens. MudDogg loss 0-14.

No I didn't forget it. The rounds were only 1.5 hrs. long so I didn't think there would be enough time.

Game 4

Last game was some more Guard on Guard action. I played Scott Faulkner from the Bookery? His army was a mix leaning heavy towards foot sloggers. His list (from memory)

CCS loaded w/ 3 meltas, plasma, medic, all of the fleet officers and so on
PCS w/ flamers
Combined Infantry squads w/ 2 auto cannons
HWS w/ las cannons
SWS w/ meltas
Storm Troopers w/ meltas
Vets w/ flamers
Demolisher
Vendetta

Mission Nightfight turns 5&6, each player gets a bunker. Primary -table quarters, Secondary-2 more kill points than opponent, Tertiary-Annihlation. Pitched Battle

He went first deploy is bunker on his right flank and then castleing up with his infantry behind it and a small hill. His storm troopers started behind a woods in the center with the Demolisher and Vendetta covering thier flank. I placed my bunker on my left side across from his and placed my CCS inside. My HWS sat behind a woods in the center.Everything else was positioned for maximum fire arcs.

He moved his storm troopers and a unit of melta vets up the center using a large rocky hill for cover. His demolisher and Vendetta moved up also covering the left flank. Everything else shot at my vendetta and a chimera making the chimera unable to shoot. He had some trouble with issuing orders also. My Vendetta shot off both weapons on the Demolisher and immobilised it. The Valkyrie pounded the vets and storm troopers with mrp pie plates. The battle Russes layed pie plates on the combined squad killing many.

The flamer vets moved into the left table quarter to control it but the penal legion
moved on from that side and along with the gunslinger ability
shot up the vets over the course of 2 turns. Marbo never showed this game as we only played 4 turns.
MudDoggs win 17-0.

That was my day. Had alot of fun and met some new people. Smile
