(note: in all these 'comp' templates, I am using the term 'composition' in its loosest form. a method of balancing [hence 'comp' vs 'composition'], not the literal scoring that many of us are directly familiar with and most are at least vaguely aware of. though it may become part of the templates in its raw form)
Wheel 'o fun!
Simple, and hard at the same time.
Core point value=900-1100pts (see below)
Each player brings this, and 3 entirely different 400/600pt 'side-board' builds. These side-boards MUST consist of different choices than each other, OR anything in the core list.
EACH round, the player must choose one of the three combinations that can only be used ONCE during the event.
This choice may be made after discovering your paired opponent.
This is designed to force people to play outside the 'box' of most competitive builds from a current book. It may sound difficult to transport at first, but realistically you won't be bringing many more models than you would if you were playing in a 2-2.5k event.
You'll be able to bring any 'uber' build available to you, but only once...after that you have to start looking to different combos/synergies/units to get the job done.
Your core 900(ish) must remain the same.
This one is the most ephemeral, but I think most interesting.
