Great write up!!! Glad the location met your liking since we are attempting to commit to building up a bit of a community there. And make it our base of operations down in this area.

Thanks EAP for the honest review! I will have to admit I didn't really think about a spread sheet (even a hard copy one) until I got to the store on Sat. Embarassed ,while I don't have a laptop maybe I can find an app for my Ipad. The last couple of tables were kind of tough trying to get a theme out of them. Next time maybe I can use some of Edges and HoD's terrain also. One thing that was missing was a good forest type table but they just didn't have the stuff to do it.

I agree on the start time!

That stink bomb at the beginning of round one was rough. We had 3 fans running but holy shit it was bad. I had to go smoke to give it time to disperse. Shocked

not your fault, there is simply a finite amount of terrain. even those were still well laid out.

Have to give you props for running an exciting event. Any opportunity to play some 40k under the watchful eye of a TO is a good day.

Enjoyed each of my games on the day. Game #2 was kinda a gimmy vs. Deathwing but the other two had alot of promise to them. Both came down to the very last rolls on the very last turn as time was called. Game 3 was so rushed on my part that I admit to underplaying to the situation. I forgot to disembark a unit from an immobilized vehicle to contest an objective, had the worst rolling ever imagioned from x3 ravagers, and x2 units of warriors with blasters vs. a lonely drednaught (that survived 5 rounds of shooting from said ravagers). Couldn't get a damage resault on an AV10 speeder either. Overall, fun game but underplayed as stated above.

I enjoyed the Martial Law crew. Looking for rematches of course but had great games nontheless.

I just can't say I loved the missions. Everyone is going to attack missions, we all know that but I think there is alot of merit to being discouraged by them. First, they were not bad missions. Just not as clear cut as book missions. I found out that Mission #3's Cap and Control w/HQ's couldn't be contested here on the boards. Match #1, Primary came down to a game-time dice roll to determine if a unit had to be fully in or majority in to count...the fact that one model was in wasn't even in question but other missions you only had to have one model in to count. That's just what you get with Non-standard missions. It's ok, not hating on it, but dont' like them. Everyone knows what Objective #2: Kill Points mean. Instances where you have a specific type of unit in a specific place in one mission but not the next gets confusing. I didn't even ask about the "controlling table quarters" objective. It said something like, have any unit in each quarter to hold it. It didn't mention contesting or anything. Just do X and win. That is something to look for in questionable missions. I only say this because the default would be to quote the Rulebook to simular conditions (like contesting) but I found that wasn't linear in the rulings on Saturday.

Aside from mission blah blah blah, that is always going to be there, it was a great time. Ya, it got hot. Ya, I got home in time to go see Wicked! (which was pretty good if you are forced to see it by your wives) Though I never want to play Imerial Guard, I'd play Edge again just for the sheer enjoyment in playing against someone who "gets" tabletop gaming. Very likable guy. Dickie's was also a good match. I didn't care about winning, just wanted to get the game in before being killed by my wife, so I played very poorly in the last turn trying to get out of there by 6pm. I feel that I could have given him a much harder game to win had we played say round 2 when I had more time. He said he hadn't played against DE much (or at all) and it showed. I thought he'd be much more aggressive with the razorbacks but to his credit, he's not GK, and therefore that AV11 w/out Fortitude is not as appealing to speed across the board in. I'd like to find you guys around for more gaming in 6th. Get to learn a new game from other's perspectives and that's always a good thing when sharing ideas from expirienced people.

One thing I'll warn all of you though is this...I have in my possession precision dice straight from the casinos. No more Chessex 23.4% rolling 1's bullshit. I wont' flub 2 rounds of shooting anymore (crosses fingers) so no more maniacle laughs from dickie and the subdued chuckles from Edge after my dice shit on the felt-topped tables.

Good times, and look forward to future events.

Thanks for the write up. We as a group are planning to run more events at the Bookery, now that we have designated it as our "club store".

If you are looking for pick up games with members of the club, post here on the site. I'm going to put up a section for non club members to be able to post and contact us.

Thanks
HoD

Thanks for the write up EAP, gotta make some corrections to the list you posted for me but nice batreps.

Painnen - had a great game, sorry your dice failed you, mine failed me game 3.

I sincerely appreciate your comment about me 'getting tabletop games'.

This is what our club is intended to be about, competitive but fun and casual game play.

I'd love to see you around the local tournament scene, you are the kind of player I like playing against.

Thanks painnen for the feedback. I agree with you on some of the missions could have been a bit more specific on some of the objectives requirements, live and learn. Glad you could make it Sat., we'll be doing some more stuff as soon as we get used to 6e. Smile
